The concept

What remains when the piano is removed: tonal fragments, harmonic shadow, latent tension.

Chopin Residue takes Chopin's preludes and etudes and removes their instrument. The residue becomes raw material for new music, composed and produced by Mariusz Szypura with 25 guests.

Disc 1, Deconstructions: nine new compositions. Disc 2, Reworks: nine reinterpretations by Fennesz, Jim O'Rourke, Abul Mogard, Christine Ott and others. Play the discs one after another, or both at once: the album is designed for simultaneous listening.
